Green Clean!

Cleaning the Green way has gotten much easier! So many of the cleansers on the market today are extremely toxic and may very well be the cause of health problems. They are SO strong that it is really a case of overkill when something much milder can be just as effective. Many products advertise themselves as being "environmentally friendly" or "eco safe" but truthfully, these phrases aren't really held to any standard by which we can meaure a product's real safety or lack of toxicity.

What's amazing is the power of plain white vinegar! It is one of those surprising substances that can clean almost anything! Diluted vinegar cleans everything from glass to a wooden deck! AND if you can put it on a salad and eat it, you know that it's safe to clean with!

What's not so safe are those handy little dryer sheets that keep clothes smelling so heavily perfumed. They have been known to include some of the following ingredients; alpha-terpineol, benzyl acetate, camphor, ethyl acetate, pentane, and chloroform. Perhaps the only thing worse than inhaling these nasty chemicals is absorbing them through your skin from your clothes! Any consumer who believes that any product that is allowed to be sold must be safe, we say that that just isn't so. Many of the chemicals contained in household products have NOT been tested to determine their effects, (especially long term effects) on humans. A safer way to add softness to your clothes is with vinegar. Just half a cup in the wash without bleach, will help to add softness. Also drying cottons separately from synthetic fabrics reduces the static cling. Since synthetics dry faster anyway, try hanging them up to dry and only put cotton garments into the dryer.
